Terry Peak Ski Area

Terry Peak Ski Area is over 7,000 feet in elevation, one of the highest peaks between the Rockies and the Alps, and is located in the northern Black Hills of South Dakota, three miles west of historic Lead/Deadwood.

Nestled in a natural snow belt, Terry Peak receives an average of 150 inches of snow each season. It and snowmaking equipment ensures skiers of a great base - top to bottom.

The certified ski school has introduced thousands to the sport of skiing. Beginners learn to ski quickly, while experienced skiers often find that lessons help them attain a higher level of skill and skiing enjoyment. Spread out your horizons with a specialty lesson, including telemark or snowboarding.

The resort began originally with the Bald Mountain Ski Club in 1936, with the installation of a rope tow for club members. Grooming in these early days was undertaken by club members hiking up and down the hill with their skis on in order to pack down the snow.

Picturesque cross-country skiing can be found around the state, from the forests and meadows of the Black Hills to the wooded prairie of the northeast.

The Black Hills are beautiful and great place for enjoying family recreation.

To drive to Terry Peak, take I-90 then Highway 85 or 14A, just one hour from Rapid City, S.D.
