Taos Ski Valley

Taos Ski Valley is nested two and one half hours from Albuquerque airport and 20 miles from the Taos Airport. The resort village boasts its traditional adobe houses and offers the only break in hundreds of square miles of dry mesa land.

Taos is one of the worlds most exceptional and charming ski resorts. It is a site where one can get away into the ancient cultures of the Southwest or discover the side of an immense mountain that was opened for winter sports but not tempered.

Taos is a mixture of the warm atmosphere of a small European-style village located at the base of a giant mountain, an outstanding ski school and a feeling founded on the common pleasures of alpine skiing.

Nested in the southern Rocky Mountains of New Mexico, at the same latitude as northern Africa, Taos combines its high elevation and dry desert climate to offer skiers the ideal conditions; light dry snow and bright sunshine.

Taos Ski Valley provides a diversity of accommodations, entertainment facilities and activities for the whole family all year round.

It is sometimes dubbed a skier's mountain. From the renowned steeps to gentle bowls, Taos' slopes please the super-expert and the beginner as well. With a top elevation of 11,819 feet, a base of 9,207 feet and 1,294 acres of ski trails, Taos provides diverse and tough terrain to satisfy skiers of all skills.

One of Taos' most lasting ski traditions is skiing off the Ridge. One may hike anywhere from 10 minutes to one hour to get to these "extreme, double-diamond" runs. The prize is the best "steep and deep" skiing in America and a possibility to try off-trail skiing in a comparatively safe setting.

You may have your child learn to ski in Taos. The Children's Program instructors focus on training kids and enlarge a lifelong love for the sport.
