Red River is nested in the southern Rocky Mountains, part of the Sangre de Cristo Range. The village is absolutely enclosed by Carson National Forest. Winter visitors relish exceptional skiing on the 10,350-foot mountain, which towers from the center of town toward the old, western mining sites of the 1800s. Skiers try out 57 trails on 270 skiable acres of diverse terrain that can suit all skills. You may ski to a reproduction of the Moon Star Mine of the 1890s. Snowboarders are invited at all trails. Skier services at Red River include rental gear, ski shops, ski school with special programs for children, child care and NASTAR racing. There is also some dining facilities on the mountain. You may find lots of accommodations offered. Main Street is in few steps from the ski area lifts. You'll also find an alluring diversity of dining and apres-ski entertainment where you can have a drink to warm up. Just three miles from Red River is located the Enchanted Forest Cross-Country Ski Area providing 30 km of groomed trails and unbelievable view. Here you may try snowmobiling- they can set you up to trip from canyons up Sawmill Mountain to the awe-inspiring scenery of Greenie Peak.
