The resort mountain is just right in size, not too big or small. Located among the lakes and Mountains of Maine, Shawnee Peak is something like bridge between huge, and sometimes vast, resorts and small ski hills. There are 41 trails with amazingly improved terrain, great cruising trails for intermediates and also catering the ideal learning atmosphere for the novice. Shawnee Peak boasts the largest night skiing facility in the area, and provides 1,300 vertical feet of lighted terrain, with 17 trails. Shawnee Peak introduced an aggressive snowmaking and new "afternoon grooming" program, that is why the peak conditions are incredible day and night long. Shawnee Peak welcomes families, providing a wide range of children programs from first-time skiing programs to junior racing programs. Bear in mind that children of 5 and under always ski free at Shawnee Peak. Shawnee Peak is convenient to get to, less than an hour from Portland, 1 3/4 hours from Portsmouth, NH 2 1/2 hours from Boston and only 20 minutes from North Conway, NH on Route 302.
