Saddleback Mountain is nested in the heart of Maine's Appalachian Mountain Range. The broad shouldered, mile-long summit ridge rises to a 4,116-foot summit. Saddleback's closeness to its famous neighbor, Sugarloaf, has caused some to ignore the resort, but more and more skiers are seeking an option to the crowds and are amazed at this area. Saddleback is regarded as one of catering peaceful, big mountain skiing. Saddleback is rather big mountain for New England with a vertical descent of 1,830 feet, and a base elevation at 2,286 feet above sea level. The ski area covers 3 miles wide and provides ski terrain for every ski skill. There are 41 trails including wide, gentle, groomed runs, as well as tough, extreme like Muleskinner and Nightmare Glades. If you are traveling from the Canadian Maritimes, then take Route 9 east to Bangor and I-95 south to Exit 39 from Calais, Maine. Take Route 2 west to Farmington.
