Founded in the 1960, Big Rock Ski Area was bought in 2000 by the Maine Winter Sports Center (MWSC) due to grants. Once a admired activity for many people in Aroostook County, alpine, or downhill, skiing, reduced in popularity over the years because the prices rose and that made it less affordable for the average family. And today Big Rock and the Maine Winter Sports Center are eager to make skiing an activity for the whole family again, so they could enjoy enhanced amenities and take of the best equipment at family-friendly prices.
Big Rock has done a lot to make the facility the best place for individuals and families to train to ski. The ski classes give both beginner and more experienced skiers the instruction to improve and obtain the skills. General brush clearing, trail reconstruction, superior snowmaking facilities, improved lifts, and new grooming gear turned the slopes into more pleasurable for all skill abilities. In addition to the enhancement of the ski conditions, the resort may boasts the diversity of winter sports experience, as Big Rock added Cross-country and snowshoe trails. Big Rock's lodging place was developed to comprise a new rental shop, ticket counter, and cafeteria with homemade soups and snacks. Resort Information
