Monarch Mountain
Monarch Mountain is a picturesque ski destination for the whole family. The resort's ski conditions cater to the winter sports enthusiasts of all ages and skills.
Monarch Mountain

Monarch Mountain is located in the pine and aspen trees at San Isabel National Forest, nested in central Colorado on the Continental Divide.

Monarch's profuse snowfall (29 feet on average) makes skiing and boarding a remarkable event whether for the novice on beginner slopes, the intermediate for a more difficult trail or the expert for fresh and untrodden deep powder.

Monarch boasts 54 trails on 800 acres of ski terrain, in addition to 770 backcountry acres available by Monarch Snowcat Tours.

Qualified instructors suggest American Teaching Method education seminars in alpine, telemark and backcountry skiing and snowboarding. They also provide special women and children programs.

If you want to come back home with gifts for your friends and relatives, the Monarch sports shop can offer you gloves, goggles, scarves, sunglasses, t-shirts, baseball caps and other winter souvenirs. You may take ski pants and jackets for rent here.

The resort boasts over 15 areas of affordable accommodation around the ski area and the proximate town of Salida. The town visitors may enjoy lots of events from live music to bright art galleries and excellent dining near the Arkansas River.

If you are traveling with family, Monarch is the place where all the members will feel comfortable and engaged. The employees are well-trained in first aid and early childhood development. There are also special ski programs for older children.

Monarch Mountain is nested on picturesque U.S. Highway 50 between the Royal Gorge and Gunnison, in 21 miles west from the town of Salida. If you are traveling from Denver, you should drive Highway 285 south to U.S. Highway 50 west for about 15 miles to Monarch Ski Resort.
