Switzerland is considered to be made for skiing. Its resorts are well-developed and equipped but they remain as quaint as they were years and years ago.

Alpine skiing history in XX century is closely connected with Switzerland. International ski races were held in Swiss Alps as long as before the First World War.  After the Winter Olympic Games 1928 in St. Moritz sport rest in snow-covered mountains began to come into fashion. And after the Winter Olympic Games 1948 in St. Moritz alpine skiing started its active development.

Switzerland is located in the very heart of Europe where Alpine peaks are especially high.  Skiing zones of some villages exceed the elevation of 3000 m. this means that snow cover lasts several months. Moreover,  some glaciers in Swiss mountains also became ski zones and season on them lasts all the year round.

Choosing appropriate resort, booking a suit in a grand-hotel, family pension, or mountain cabin one should remember that Switzerland is an expensive country. But, on the other hand, all spending is worth of health and joy received here. In addition to ski sports Switzerland offers all the other winter entertainments: horse and dog sled rides, curling, snow surfing, skating, tobogganing, snowmobiling… and generously shares its major capital – the beauty of the majestic landscape.
