| Nevis Range | With Ben Nevis being the highest mountain in Britain, Nevis Range resort, which is also known as Anoach Mor, is considered to be the newest and the most modern ski area in Scotland. The resort provides excellent facilities including a crèche, equipment hire and café at base camp. There are twelve lifts in total and 35 runs. The height of the run is about 4,000 feet, and because of such altitude, it is possible to enjoy good skiing even in June. Moreover, there are good off – piste runs for the experienced skiers and thrill seeking freeriders, located on Corrie Dubh, which provide impressive snowholding hollow. Snowboarding is truly considered to be the fastest growing winter sport in the world, and the Nevis Range resort has become very popular school as well as great terrain for carving and cruising.
The resort was opened for the 1989 – 90 season, and it is really an all – year round sports and activity destination. Moreover, lifts include the UK’s only quad chair and six – person gondola. Fort William is the town, which is located the nearest to the resort, this is the place, where the great majority of the accommodation and après ski facilities are based.
The boarding terrain of the Nevis Range ski resort is classified as 50 % Freeride; 20 % Freestyle, 30 % Carving, thus, there is something for riders of all abilities provided. The Snowgoose Chair and the T – bar gives access to Easyrider, Fairways and Far – West – wide open runs – perfect for carving up or simply cruising. As for the Black Corriers, it offers somewhat more extreme terrain: there is cornice and cliff drops, wind lifts, natural ¼ pipes as well as steeper and more challenging runs – it is enough to satisfy any, even the most extreme freerider.
Nevis Range ski resorts provides great terrain for skiers of all abilities: beginners can make use of the wide variety of green runs, while intermediates are spoilt of choice with more than 25 groomed blue and red runs. As for the experts, there are challenges of the “Back Corrie”, which is an off piste expanse with comices, drop – offs and ridges to explore.
There are several all – inclusive packages available, which range from the complete beginner to people, who have a desire to improve their technique. The range of ski equipment, available for hire, is updated and expanded continually.
