The Lecht ski resort, which is the smallest resort in Scotland, is mostly composed of largely parallel roadside drag lifts. The slopes are located on the east – facing side of a high pass. The resort is about 32 miles away from Aviemore and about 54 miles from both Glenshee and Cairngorm, while the nearest accommodation is located three miles away at Corgarff. Lech is considered to be best suited to beginners and intermediates. It should also be noted, that the resort has also invested quite a big sum of money in snow making technology during the last several seasons, paying dividends in snow cover through unpredictable winter weather in Scotland. There is also a wide range of alternatives to skiing and snowboarding, offered. It should also be noted, that this resort is the one of the first areas of Scotland, in which snowboard instruction was provided and it has subsequently hosted numerous competitions in this kind of sport. There is also a fun park, which is equipped well enough: with log slides, table tops, gap jumps, a full – length half – pipe and a floodlit dry ski slope section – thus, all the freestyle facilities are simply excellent. There are lots of varied terrains for boards with the Buzzard and Falcon runs provided by the resort, which offer challenging terrain and the Harrier black run testing even the most experienced riders. Anyway, people, who are going to visit the Lecht ski resort are to keep in mind that the snowfall can be erratic, although snow – making facilities have recently been introduced, and it is also necessary to mention that the weather downright vicious.
