Glenshee
Glenshee is the resort, situated to the south of the Cairngorms, right near Braemar, in which there is the annual “Gathering” staged, and which is the Queen’s summer residence in Balmoral. Glenshee ski resort, which is considered to be the Scotland’s “Three Valleys”, flanks each side of the highest road pass of Britain and there are more lifts and marked piste kilometers there, than in any other ski center in the entire Britain. It is considered to be the most extensive exhilarating and varied skiing and snowboarding options.

Moreover, the first snowboarding championships were help here and all skiers have a possibility to enjoy the high – plateau routes.  And no matter whether one is going to free ride or freestyle, or even in case if someone is just a beginner, the on – hill terrain on offer, which ranges from the natural quarter pipes and man made feature of the Burchart’s Coire and up to the wide open expanses, located at Coire Fionn and Glas Maol to the gentle slopes of Claybokie and the Cluny’s, is really as much varied as it is expansive.

As for the facilities at this ski resort, beginning from invitingly easy to the surprisingly steep, Glenshee provides the very extensive skiing and snowboarding. As soon as one arrives, it is possible to get parked right near the foot of the Cairnwell Chairlift, and there is the ticket office and the Base Cafe, which is an ideal meeting place near the parking place. There is also a shop, in which a wide variety of skiing and snow boarding accessories can be obtained for adults, as well as for kids. It is also possible to hire a ski suit in that shop.
 
There are three mountain restaurants, which serve a selection of hot and cold meals, all kinds of snacks and drinks while the visitors are on the piste at the Glenshee ski resort. These restaurants are: Panoramic licensed Cairnwell Mountain Restaurant, which is situated at the top of the Plastic Slope; the cozy Meal Odhar Café, which is nestled right in the middle valley, and it is serviced by the Beag Tow, and, finally, the licensed Base Café, which is situated at car park level.

It is also necessary to point out that the ski patrol provides perfect mountain safety. The resort is equipped with a team of BASP qualified professionals to ensure the visitors’ safety on the mountain with a free patrol, rescue and first aid service, being provided. Anyone can feel free to ask any patroller or any other mountain staff for any sort of information or any kind of assistance; because the Glenshee ski resort is committed to promoting skier and snowboarder safety.

And, finally, there is a fleet of five Kassbohrers at Glenshee to keep the slopes in excellent condition throughout the entire skiing season. In addition, there are also six artificial snow cannons, which can provide early skiing in case if conditions allow. If necessary, these artificial snow cannons would also be used to top up the lower slopes, when the snow cover gets thinner.
