Glencoe is still considered by many people as the country’s best ski resort, where there is a world – class vertical. The reason of it is that this Scotland’s original ski center began its life as a weekend haut for the most dedicated enthusiasts. It is located in just one and a half hour’s drive from Glasgow, on the road to Fort William, in an awesome area at the South end of a spectacular valley. The resort has 7 lifts and 19 runs, and it is holding the record for the steepest on – piste run, called Fly Paper, in the country. There is the Cliffhanger chairlift, which is perfect for beginners, who consider it difficult to get on a button lift. It is a single chairlift, and it is manageable easily enough; from there one can get right onto Mugs Alley, which is a green run. In addition, the variety of accommodation, available locally is rather wide.
The riding area is famed for having the best freestyle runs in the country, and there is no doubt that it is one of the best “boarding” areas of Scotland, according to Snowboard World magazine.
