The Rainbow ski resort is situated at the top of the South Island of New Zealand, which is just off highway 63. The resort is about one hour and a half drive from Nelson airport, 1 hour 20 minutes drive from Blenhiem, 1 hour 40 minutes from Picton and 1 hour 20 minutes drive from Murchison. The Rainbow ski resort overlooks the beautiful lakes and beech forest of Nelson lakes National Park. The ski resort lies at 4,708 feet and the top of the highest ski lift there is 5,740 feet. There are more than 740 acres of skiing terrain, which ranges from terrain, suitable for beginner as well as for advanced skiers’ levels. These terrains are served by two main ski lifts and by two nursery ones. There is also a variety of routes of varying difficulty down the mountain. It is actually considered to be a skiing area; although there is no accommodation on – site, except a café with some great views over the lakes and the valley. As for the nearest accommodation, it is available farther down the mountain at the nearby resort town of St Arnaud. The Remarkables ski resort is the area in the Southern Alps of the South Island, and a great number of superb ski resorts are there as well. Some of the resort’s facilities include: café – Serving food, cold and hot drinks and espresso coffee; shop for all kinds of necessary accessories, clothing and the Rainbow ski resort branded souvenirs; first aid and emergency service; kassabourer snow – groomer; different entertainment programs for children; school group programs, etc.
In addition, there is a great number of motels, lodges, bed and breakfasts, cottages and guesthouses are available in St Arnaud. As for the skiing services, the Rainbow ski resort offers its visitors; there are ski and snowboarding schools and lessons, ski repair and maintenance service; it should also be mentioned that any kind of skiing and / or snowboarding equipment or clothing is possible to be hired.
