The Ohau Snow Fields ski resort is one of New Zealand’s best kept secrets. It is located between the towns of Queenstown and Christchurch. although it is not much popular as some other ski resorts, it is considered to be a small and friendly resort, which provides superb views of Mount Cook and Lake Ohau along with fabulous accommodation options, being in just a short drive from the ski field. This area is really worth visiting, boasting a diverse selection of trails, good slope conditions and rather empty runs. Excellent lodging facilities are available there, including 75 rooms, which encompass four different varieties of accommodation, beginning form basic backpacker units and up to luxury double rooms. The lodge is located in only a 15 – minute drive from the ski field, and a convenient access to the slopes is also provided.

It is considered to be a part of the Ohau Range in the Main Divide. The resort is serviced by the New Zealand’s longest T - Bar, a platter and a fixed grip lift. The main trails of the ski resort are groomed in a regular way. The very beginners, as well as skiers and snowboarders of intermediate level can ski and snowboard easily and have a lot of fun while getting down from the top of the T – Bar to the base facilities.
There is the Lake Ohau Lodge, in about 15 minutes from the ski field, in which there are 75 rooms. The lodge offers four different styles of accommodation conditions, beginning from backpacker facilities and up to luxury double rooms.

The Ohau Snow Fields ski resort is also equipped by its own ski patrol and café. It is also possible to hire any type of skiing equipment. One can take private skiing lessons as well. In addition, there is a heliskiing hire, which is available in the base lodge, just as well as the shuttle bus from the lodge to the ski area.
In addition, the Ohau ski resort hosts a lot of exciting winter events, such as festive Irish weekend, a winter ball and the Highland Games.
