Mt. Robert

The Mt. Robert Nelson Ski Club was formed yet in 1944. The access (or the lack of it) makes the Mount Robert ski resort unique. It is run on a volunteer base with the Nelson Ski Club members expected to pitch in on summer maintenance work parties and to generally assist with all the duties during the winter time. And although Mount Robert is considered to be a club field, all non – members are always welcome. It is possible to get to the resort area either by walking for about 2 hours, or by helicopter, which is a much faster way of getting there and it usually does not take more than 2 minutes.

Anyway, the best way to enjoy Mount Robert is to get to this ski resort for the weekend. There are comfortable on – field lodges, able to accommodate up to 60 people. Therefore, it is essential to book for Saturday overnight accommodation. And although member of the ski club are somewhat more preferable, still, any non – member is also much welcome, though he is to book in by 8.00 pm on Thursday evening for the upcoming weekend. It is also necessary to mention that space and any kind of facilities are limited Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast is pooled.
