Mt. Potts ski resort provides the combination of helicopter access with skiing and snowboarding on some of the best powder and terrain New Zealand has to offer. There is a helicopter, lifted from the lodge even morning, in small guided groups, everyone is being outfitted with an avalanche transceiver, cat rides all day long, a picnic lunch and transport back down the mountain is all in a days skiing at Mt Potts ski resort. The very ski area is located in the peaks of the Two Thumb and Cloudy Peak ranges, which is in a short flight across the valley from Mt. Potts Lodge. Both of these mountains are considered to be the highest permitted for heliskiing in the country, providing long runs and fantastic quality of snow.
As for the skiing terrain, it consists of three big basins and it is the highest in New Zealand – 22meters high! Visitors are lifted from Mount Potts Alpine Lodge by helicopter and they are sent back at the end of the day. The location of the skiing area is at the very heart of the Southern Alps, which means that it always captures good ranging from steeps to mellow, with lots of cliffs and chutes between.
There is also a lodge along with a licensed bar, available at the very base of the mountain. The Mount Alpine Lodge down at the base features good food and lots of entertainment possibilities with a pool tab le, playstation and a big amount of books and videos for everyone. All meals are included in the over night stay price. The ski resort also provides a warm lunch hut, in which the visitors can relax during the lunch time, as well as have some hot drinks part away through the day.
