Mt. Cheeseman

Consider vacationing at Mt. Cheeseman ski resort, New Zealand. Here you may read about the amenities and services available there.
Mt. Cheeseman

Mt. Cheeseman ski resort is located 112 km from Christchurch and 41 km from Springfield, on SH 73 through Porters Pass, right after Castle Hill Village and it is considered to be a southeasterly facing one. Generally, this ski resort provides safe and well – maintained access road: there is a drive right to the snow. It should also be mentioned, that the resort looks like being made up of two halves: the groomed piste and the ungroomed, which has Mt Cocayane at the top and Powder Valley. As for the groomed area, it is the best choice for intermediate skiers. There is also a small, though a good enough learner’s area and lots of off – piste steeps, which can be hiked to.  There is also a skiing and / or snowboarding school with highly experienced instructors available at the resort.

As for the lodge, there is no on – site accommodation, although there exists Forest Lodge Backpacker, which is located on the Cheeseman access road. However, the resort’s day lodge provides hot food, drinks and great hire possibilities.
