Manganui is an exceptional North Island mountain experience that lies in the Egmont National Park on the slopes of Mt Taranaki. The resort is operated on a volunteer basis by Club members expected to pitch in on autumn maintenance working bees and to assist with operating the field during the winter.
The turnoff to the Pembroke Road is just south of Stratford on Highway 3. The road is sealed and travels through Beach Forest for 18km to the to Stratford Plateau car park. From there take a 20 minute walk to the skifield, with a goods lift five minutes along the way.
You will enjoy family friendly, uncrowded, affordable ski area.
The lower slopes accessed by T-Bar are open and gentle, in contrast with the nutcracker accessed upper slopes that are steeper. The slopes here are open and treeless.
There is goods lift (For transportation of ski equipment and baggage across the Manganui Gorge. No passengers.)
The resort has a Public Shelter: For daily public use. It contains toilets, ticket office, and canteen. Manganui also offers ski patrol that is operated by qualified patrollers (First Aid facilities are based at the bottom of the T-bar). Ski School is available throughout the season.
Here you may enjoy Top Tow. The tow belts are available from the canteen. Remember that it is for experienced and advanced skiers only! And always check conditions with the Top Tow Operator or Ski Patroller.
Ski rent is available from the Mountain House Motor Lodge along with fully licensed restaurant, hotel, and motel accommodation. It is located 3km below the ski field.
