Cervinia

Cervinia is full of exciting trails served by extense network of lifts. One may try any other kind of winter sport.
Cervinia

Cervinia resort stretched in one of the side valleys of Aosta in sight of Alpine 4000m plus giants of Monte Rosa (4634 m), Matterhorn (4478 m, in Italy this famous mountain is called Cervino), Castore (4228 m), Rimpfishhorn (4198 m), Stralhorn (4190 m), Breithorn (4165 m). The ski region includes almost 250 km of Chervinia’s (French name: Breuil), Valtournenche valley’s, and Swiss Zermatt’s trails.

Main lift lines lead in different directions from Plan Maison station (2555 m).   From Testa Grigia, the upper station  of lifts at the edge of Rosa plateau (3480 m), one may get  to Swiss  slopes, in particular to the Little Matterhorn (3883 m, Italian: Piccolo Cervino). Rosa Plateau on the Italian side and Gobba di Rolin slopes on Swiss side form summer ski region, one of the largest in the Alps.

The most interesting trails are that leading from Rosa plateau to Cervinia (7800m, elevation change 1455 m) and Ventina  (700 m, elevation change 1430 m) leading from the same plateau  via Ventino pass between Gran Sometta and Cima Bianka to Valtournenche village (1524 m) where skiers get also via Eullia station (2250 m). From here one may get to Cervinia by bus or go by lift to Cima Bianka and downhill from there to the village.

Cervinia resort receives guests in the same way as other Alpine villages. Here various sports are available: riding, tennis, figure skating. Many tourists go on motor sled rides along mountain roads. Not all the hotels, apart-hotels, and boardinghouses are located close to the historical center of this village. But all of them were built in such a way that skiers are able to get easy to at least the nearest lift. There are many tourists with children here, especially Italians. Restaurants, bars, discos, and even shops are opened here till late at night. Cervinia comparing with neighboring Zermatt seems to be easier and more affordable. The same can be said regarding its downhills.
