Courchevel
Courchevel is one of the most fashionable and expensive resorts in France. The luxury of the resort's life fits the first-class options catered there.
Courchevel

Unlike other French mountain resorts Courchevel was formed not by the merger of old villages, but was built after the new plan. The single Alpine cabin stood here at that time at it was preserved.

Courchevel is one of the most expensive and prestigious French resorts and places where famous people spend their vocations and train. The village can receive 30 000 guests. Hotels and other buildings are located on several levels (1100, 1300, 1550, 1850 m) and prices here rise accordingly.   Some of the resort’s restaurants are considered to be the best in Alps. Night clubs, bars, and shops are chic and expensive; famous orchestras and singers appear in the concert hall.

All this luxury accords with the conditions created for sports. Courchevel is virtually a vast complex or stadium blend with the landscape. In the indoor sport complex hockey matches are held and famous sportsmen and figure skaters compete.  It has 3 slalom trails, 1 downhill trail with electronic timing, Olympic skating-rink, cross country trails, climbing walls.

In addition to usual sports of well-equipped resorts (including snowshoeing and snowmobile safari) Courchevel offers instruction in parachute jumping, paragliding, and hanggliding. Forum sport complex (Courchevel – 1850) is very famous, it has skating-rink, bowling, squash, ice carting, fitness center.

The most difficult trails are Jean Blanc (1500 m, elevation change 1000 m) and Couloir Emile Allais (slope  35o, elevation change 300 m). Beginners should rather go to the trails of Altiport plateau (Courchevel – 1850). Sainte-Agathe easy trail (Courchevel – 1650) is lightened on Thursdays till 19.00.

Courchevel has its own aerodrome from where one may get to Geneva and Lyons.
