The hotels and hostels can accommodate up to 3000 persons in a season. This resort in the lake area is one of the largest in Finland. It is here where the first covered trail (200 m) for summer skiing was built. This slope meets the highest standards, and appropriate temperature is kept here all the year round. Half-pipe for snowboarders is also up-to-date. That is why Vukoatti attracts tourists not only in winter, but in other seasons also. Ordinary trails start just near the entries to hotels and cottages, and distance to downhill slopes (13) is usually between 0.5 and 3 km. Special bus takes to trails and the nearest town of Sotkamo. Winter Vuokatti is often called “a tropical resort”. The tourists can use the services of Katin Kulta thermal and sport center. There is also a hotel on its territory. The complex has a golf field, tennis courts, gym, sports halls, (badminton, squash, tanning saloon, indoor swimming pool, children’s swimming pool, various saunas, hammam, “black bath”, but the most unusual is tropical water park. Along with regular entertainments of Finnish resorts Vuokatti offers excursions to the farm of Siberian huskies (15 km) or reindeer breeding farm (30 km), midnight lake ski tours and icesailing. The lake region has wide opportunities for ice fishing. You may also go hiking with instructor and stop overnight in a shelter of branches near the fire. Some dozens kilometers away from the resort there is the so called Santa Claus’s residence, where tourists are proposed special program for children and adults, young visitors are pleased to offer gifts to the next Christmas. Snowmobile safari is also one of the favorite entertainments of the resort’s guests. Sportsmen and amateurs are proposed training programs all the year round. All the equipment can be rent.
