Pyha resort is located 3 km northward of polar circle. Pyhatunturi means the holy mountain; the local landscape is famous by its beauty. Skiing opportunities here are present not only on the hill (540 m, 10 trails), but in the surroundings also. 70 km of cross country trails are connected with the trails of adjoining resorts forming the network with total length of 160 km. The resort is especially proud of the fact that when there is not enough snow it is complemented by artificial one made of pure lake water without adding chemicals. Alpine skiers most often book Pyhatunturi hotel on the National park border due to the opportunity to downhill the slope straight from the hotel’s entrance and then return to the slope start by lift. A beautiful view of the forest and hills opens from the hotel’s windows. Pyha Club with sauna, gym, Jacuzzi, and tanning saloon is perfect for après-ski entertainment. The lights of restaurants and bars attract here those who have settled in other hotels and complexes where the apartments are equally comfortable, but there are fewer entertainments. One of the most interesting entertainments is ice fishing on Pyha Lake teeming with fish. Under the guidance of the instructor even the most inexperienced fisher will master the technique of hooking perch and pollan. In cottages and chalets, hostels and even in restaurant kitchens you will be able to cook your fish by your own adding northern berries and herbs. Pyha’s ski school arranges snowshoeing trips over the surroundings (outfit is provided). Other entertainments are snowmobile or dog sled safari. Usually short tours suppose a halt with a cup of coffee or hot berry juice. Such events are flavoured by the twilight of polar night or northern lights in the night sky. Pyha-shop offers high-quality sportsware, ski and slalom outfit, and local souvenirs. Nature enthusiasts certainly visit National Park Center where special program (slide show) aquaints them with flora and fauna of Pyha area. Resort Information
