Levi

Levi in the West Lapland (14 km away from Kittilia) has two distinctive features: first, this winter resort is exceptionally popular among Finns themselves, second, due to developed infrastructure and the variety of opportunities it has become   the center of business tourism over the last 10 years.

In several hotels business congresses and conferences are regularly held. Hotels offer to settle in ordinary rooms and suits and also in apartments and cottages with their own sauna, kitchen, fireplace, etc. Many tourists prefer to live in peasant bartons in the surroundings (for example, Taivaanvalkeat, 7 km).

In the village itself hotels are located among forest trees.  One can go skiing right on their doorsteps, the slopes (45 trails) start in some tens of meters, though free bus plies between the cottages and the lifts.

 About 230 km of cross country trails connecting Levi with its neighboring resorts (first of all with Yllas) are laid here. It allows passing virtually whole Lapland enjoying its primeval nature, hills, and lakes.  Levi offers special health-improving course under the motto “skiing away from stresses”: during the period of 5 -7 days you will combine physical exercises with psychological training under the supervision of experts (appliance in advance).

When visiting the reindeer farm one may pass a simple test and receive the unique document – reindeer driver's license.

In Levitunturi water-fitness center one may have the complex of water or other procedures, visit swimming pool, sauna or hammam, play badminton, tennis, mini-golf. The hotel with the same name is popular among tourists with children: it has special playing for children.

When in Levi one shall get acquainted with traditional Lapponian cuisine: dine smoked salmon, taste sauces and gravies of northern berries, and various venison dishes.
