Harrahov in the western part of the Krkonose Mountains is the most famous Czech winter resort.  Good hotels, wide range of services, beautiful landscape, and, essentially, the diversity of skiing opportunities promoted its popularity over last years.

Every year Harrahov hosts the competitions in which the sportsmen who showed the top scores in the World Cup or World Championship stages take part. Amateur skiers also gladly come to this town where sports may be combined with a proper rest. The slopes are supplied with artificial snow, and that’s why the season in Harrahov lasts five months a year.

Skiable trails are on all mountains and hills around the town. Major ski region is Certova Hora, known among sportsmen dew to its jumping boards. Alpine skiers, from beginners to professionals, will find slopes of various difficulty on its sides.  There are also prepared downhills for snowboarders in Harrahov.

Three most popular trails lead from the top of Certova Hora to the Ryzoviste Valley that belongs to Harrahov: Cerna (“black”, length 1250 m, elevation change 300 m), Cervena I (“red”, length 1640 m, elevation change 300 m), Modra (“blue”, length 2200 m, elevation change 300 m). The second “red” trail Cervena II leads from Certova Hora to Harrahov (length 1850 m, elevation change 350 m). Sportsmen get from Harrahov and Ryzoviste to its top by lift. Special Doppellmayr D 380 lift delivers skiers to the start of the trail section that is lightened till 21.00.

The surroundings of the town and the Ryzoviste Valley have many prepared, but shorter ones. Here come ski instructors used to come with their trainees – children and adults. It is worthy of note that Harrahov’s ski schools have large experience and are famous by the professionalism of their alpine and cross country instructors.  

Many short trails (60 – 400 m) are lightened till night; they all are equipped with lifts.  Some hotels have their own lifts and downhills.  But it is reasonable to buy ski-pass (SKIDATA) valid in the whole region. Besides the members of Harrahov’s bonus club have 15% discounts  forhotels, boarding houses, lifts, etc. that is very convenient for those who enjoy this resort and comes here every year.

There are also cross country trails of different level in Harrahov.  Some of them start right under the jumping boards on Certova Hora. The marked trail leading from upper lift station via the mountain knap in to Ručičky and than via Krakonošova Snídaně around Harrahov is very popular. The main knap of the Krkonose Mountains beyond which Jizersky ski region starts can also be reached.
