Bansko resort is located on the spurs the Pirin Mountains’ at the elevation of 930 m. Bansko ski region is the youngest in Bulgaria and has been actively developing over the last years. Skiers enjoy safe snow cover reaching 2 meters height even in spring – till the end of April and sometimes till May. Basko is considered to have the longest ski season in Bulgaria. Winter rest and alpine skiing center offers trails for skiers of all levels. The trails with total length of 14 km are served by several lifts. Bansko region attracts tourists by its picturesque landscapes, mountain peaks, and lakes. 45 mountain tops (the highest is Virchen - 2914 m) are waiting here for those who love foot walks and mountain climbing. Pirin Mountains and Vichren in particular has a lot of cabins and campsites where one can stay overnight. The major Pirin territory has been declared to be the conservancy area therefore rare animal and plant species preserved here. Bansko town with its massive stone buildings with little iron-grated windows resembling mountain monasteries is exceptionally beautiful. Blagoevgrad famous by its hot springs is located some kilometers away from Bansko. The tourist office also offers excursion to climatic health resort of Sandaski famous not only by its mineral springs but also by being the motherland of great ancient hero – Spartacus. Rozhen monastery of XII-XIII centuries and Melnik town famous by red wine export are also located near Bansko. Resort Information
