Kitzbuhel is one of the most celebrated Alpine ski resorts in Europe. Tourists come here to relish the undoubtedly incredible ski conditions as well as apres-ski amenities.

Kitzbuhel is undoubtedly one of the top ten famous and fashionable Alpine ski resorts. Here on the one of the world’s most difficult trails the men’s downhill skiing World Cup stage is held annually. The winner is given the freedom of the town. Rich and famous guests are attracted not only by sport center fame of the Alpine village, but also by the beauty of Tyrolean landscape, first-rate restaurants, bars, and casinos. Many resort’s guests consider après-ski to be more important than skiing.

The neighboring village of Kirchberg (6 km) in the Briksental Valley was previously considered to be less elite, but cheaper branch of Kirchberg. But over the last years these two resorts have become equal if not by their prestigiousness than by service and price level.  Mountainsides above Kitzbuhel and Kirchbergform form common skiing region offering opportunities for skiers of all levels.

The network of lifts connects Kitzbuhel and Kirchberg with Hannenkam sides. The new line of gondola lift connecting two skiing areas - Hannenkam and Johberg – has been built. Famous Streif downhill trail looks very modest, but in fact has so many unexpected moments that there are prepared sideways on many of its sections (4500m). From Klausen, a village between two resorts, one may go by lift to Erenbachhohe, then to Steinbergkogel where there are a lot of wonderful trails of different categories.  Downhilling to Erenbachgraben is considered to be difficult enough. Intermediate runs go from Pengelstein lift station northward to Kirchberg lifts; chaste slopes, over which one may get to Jochberg, start at the south. The longest slope is Pengelstein Sud (6800 m, elevation change 1055 m).

From Kitzbuhel skiers are taken buy cabin lift to Kitzbuheler Horn Mountain. Its sides are rather flat, but the majority gets to Reintal from its peak. The Geisberg Mountain has its own skiing area.

Both of these Tyrolean resorts are located at a relatively small elevation (skiing area 800-2040 m), that is why snow begins to melt relatively early.  But Pass Thurn where snow cover is safe enough is also referred to this region.

There is always tourist bustle in the center of Kitzbuheler, while Kirchberg is much more quiet and calm. But Kitzbuheler is fairly considered to be one of the most beautiful places in the Austrian Alps.  The number of restaurants and other après-ski establishments is substantial in both villages.

Lift takes guests to the famous mountain restaurant Hochkitzbuhel till late, but a table should be reserved in advance. In summer major tennis tournament is held in Kitzbuheler, along with various international meetings, seminars, and conferences.
